Officials for Glendale Water & Power announced today that the City has met its target for July of reducing water usage by 10%. According to July production reports, customers reduced water usage by 10.7% compared to July 2006.

Fire Hydrant Theft on the Rise

Glendale Water & Power (GWP) water officials announced today that in the last week, two fire hydrants in Glendale were stolen. GWP officials believe this is an escalation of the ongoing problem of thieves removing fire hydrant parts for purposes of selling them as scrap metal.

Conservation is Key During Heat Wave

Officials for Glendale Water & Power (GWP) today encouraged residents to continue conserving energy following a heat wave warning issued by the National Weather Service. Forecasters are predicting an “excessive heat watch” starting, Tuesday, July 8 through July 10. Weather forecasters warned temperatures in the Glendale area could reach 103 degrees when relatively high humidity levels are factored in.
