About GWP
About Us
With a heritage that spans a century, Glendale Water & Power (GWP) is a municipal
utility that serves the citizens and community of Glendale, California including
over 35,000 water and 88,000 electric customers. Glendale Water & Power's vision
is to provide our customers with reliable and sustainable water and power services
that are cost effective and innovative. Glendale Water & Power helps our residents
and businesses become wise stewards of the planet's natural resources and to wisely
manage energy costs at home and at work through our 29 Community Programs, Residential
Water and Energy Efficiency Programs, and Business Programs.
Glendale Water & Power is currently upgrading 120,000 electric and water meters with
new Smart Meters. Smart Meters are the utility's first step to the Smart Grid, a
technology aimed at modernizing its technology and systems infrastructure to enhance
reliability and manage costs for citizens while providing an infrastructure foundation
that supports future growth. Our move to the Smart grid will provide real-time usage
data to customers, helping them conserve and be more energy and water efficient and
provide GWP with the tools to provide more competitive prices, demand reduction programs
and make the way for acquiring more renewable resources.
Community Involvement
Glendale Water & Power is a part of the community of Glendale. Our
employees live, shop, and work here. More than that, we are owned by the
City of Glendale, administered by the GWP Commission, and governed by
the Glendale City Council.
GWP cares about our community and sponsors many events within the
community. From Chamber of Commerce events to the Glendale Symphony
Orchestra, from senior events to school sponsored events, we are here to
help.
Glendale Water & Power is locally owned and governed. Look for us at the
next community event you attend. We'll be there.
