GLENDALE, California – Now through May 23, Glendale Water & Power (GWP) customers can maximize their dollar and energy savings by purchasing qualifying ENERGY STAR® appliances. With combined rebates from the new state program California Cash for Appliances and existing GWP programs, customers can save up to $280 on a qualifying refrigerator, up to $180 on a qualifying clothes washer and up to $110 on a qualifying room air conditioner, while state funds last.

The California Cash for Appliances rebate program is funded with $35.2 million dollars from the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The program is intended to boost the economy and energy efficiency alike through a limited-time promotion.

To be eligible for state program rebates, California electric customers must purchase a qualifying ENERGY STAR® appliance from a California brick-and-mortar retailer during the rebate period of April 22 through May 23 and recycle the old energy-hungry appliance. Glendale Water & Power also offers ENERGY STAR® appliance rebates through its Smart Home Appliance Rebate Program, which has different rules and a separate application process from the state program.
