GLENDALE, California – Glendale community members are invited to a ribbon cutting on Thursday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. to commemorate the successful completion of the Glendale Water & Power (GWP) Chevy Chase 968 Reservoir and pump station replacement project at the Chevy Chase Country Club Golf Course. The Country Club is located at 3067 East Chevy Chase Drive.

Replacement of the 90-year-old reservoir and pump station represents a key element of GWP’s multi-year citywide water system rehabilitation and replacement project to most effectively meet water needs for residents, businesses and fire protection. Demolition began on the 14-million-gallon reservoir in January 2008 and the project finished on schedule.

“We’re very pleased that the reservoir and pump station were completed quickly and the golf course returned to good condition,” said GWP General Manager Glenn Steiger. “We worked closely with the Chevy Chase Country Club and local residents to ensure the project was carried out with minimal disruption to the community.”

Community members who would like to attend the event should arrive at the Chevy Chase Country Club Golf Course parking lot no later than 9:45 a.m. on Dec. 10. Shuttle service will be provided to the event site from the parking lot between 9:45 a.m. and 10 a.m., and then back following the ceremony.  In the event of rain, accommodations will be made for those in attendance.
