Peak Hogs Cash Incentives Program

What Is a Peak Hog?

Peak Hogs are energy inefficient air conditioning units. These inefficient AC units are called "Peak Hogs" because of the high demand for energy they place on the local electrical systems during peak hours.

Who Is This Program For and How Much of a Discount Will I Get?

The Peak Hogs program is for building owners of multi-family residential units.

Peak Hog incentives can equal as much as 50% of the installed cost of a new ENERGY STAR system! Actual incentives will be based on the difference between the old and new SEER for central AC units and old and new EER for wall type AC units. Final incentives are calculated by GWP after all work is completed.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Air conditioning units to be replaced must serve a rental unit in Glendale. A multi-family residential rental unit is defined as two or more attached units that are not owner occupied.
  • Tenant must be a GWP customer.
  • AC units must be permanently installed.
  • All air conditioning units to be replaced must be in working condition.
  • Window air conditioning units do not qualify.
  • Replacement air conditioning units must be ENERGY STAR qualified and meet current ENERGY STAR qualifications.

Getting Started

  1. Building owner contacts GWP (818) 548-3300 to schedule a pre-retrofit inspection.
  2. GWP conducts the inspection, documents the existing SEER/EER levels, and ensures AC is operational.
  3. Building owner completes work and notifies GWP to schedule a post-retrofit inspection.
  4. GWP conducts post-retrofit inspection, verifies ENERGY STAR qualifications of new units, records SEER/EER levels of new units and calculates final rebate amount.
  5. Building owner signs completed rebate application and W9 form.
