The GWP Smart Home Refrigerator Recycling program helps residential customers lower
their electric bills by disposing of secondary refrigerators in garages or spare
rooms commonly used to store additional food and beverages.
Secondary refrigerators add a significant amount to the average household electric
bill. Removing them can immediately reduce the household electric bill by as much
as $15.00 a month, that's $180 a year!
According to the U. S. Department of Energy, there are big energy savings still remaining
from refrigerators:
- 7 out of 10 refrigerators sold are not ENERGY STAR qualified.
- 44% of displaced or discarded refrigerators stay on the grid.
- 23 million inefficient refrigerators manufactured before 1993 are still in use.
- 26% of all U.S households have a second refrigerator and more are added every year.
How the Program Works
Our contractors will remove your secondary refrigerator, recycle it in an environmentally
safe manner, and give you 6 free energy saving compact fluorescent light bulbs.
In addition we will also give you a one-time $25.00 discount off your next GWP bill!
The secondary refrigerator must be in regular use and you must agree to install
the free light bulbs in your home. Other restrictions may apply.
