Solar Requirements and System Components
Eligible System Components
- Photovoltaic cells
- Photovoltaic modules
- Mounting and tracking structures
- Wiring
- Inverters
- Foundations for free standing systems
- GWP required interconnection equipment and meters
General Customer Requirements
- Must receive their residential electric service from GWP
- Must participate in GWP's free
Smart Home Energy Saving Survey prior to receiving any monetary
incentive.
- Must agree to remain connected to the grid under GWP.
- Must sign two original copies of GWP's Photovoltaic Interconnection
Agreement
- Must pay for all required metering and interconnection equipment that is
not required for standard service
- For the incentive listed in the table below, customer must reserve
funding prior to December 30, 2008.
- Incentives will be available for only one photovoltaic system per
customer
- Incentive calculation cannot exceed 50% of the total cost of the system
General System Requirements
- Must use photovoltaic technology to produce electricity
- Must be less than or equal to 30KWdc and/or 125% of historical usage.
- Must meet national standards. GWP will maintain a list of components and
systems that meeting such standards. This list will be identical to the list
maintained by the California Energy Commission. GWP reserves the right to
adopt additional codes, standards, and conditions at any time
- Must come with a minimum of a full 10-year warranty against breakdown or
unusual degradation of power output (more than 10% of rated output) for the
purchaser. The warranty must cover all of the system components that are
eligible for the incentive, and cover the cost of repair of replacement of
defective components or systems. Where the system has been professionally
assembled and installed, the warranty shall also cover the cost of labor to
remove and reinstall defective components or systems
- Installer must be appropriately licensed contractor, unless the system
is installed by the customer, and must in all cases be installed in
conformance with the system manufacturer’s specifications and with
applicable electrical and other codes and standards
A separate meter panel to measure the PV inverter’s KWh output will be required.
The meter’s location will be in close proximity to the customer’s existing
electrical service. A GWP Electrical Service Planner will spot the meter. For
residential or 30 KWdc or less customers only, both the main revenue meter and
the PV output meter will be radio meters to facilitate the reading of the meter
registers to avoid meter reading errors.
